325-4561, DaHT 712
Davetta Geimausaddle and Megan Haley are the Academic Counselors for the Psychology Department, and advise all psychology major/minors unless special arrangements are made by the student to see a faculty advisor or Beth Isbell, College of Arts and Sciences. The advisor's offices are located in Dale Hall Tower, Room 705-C and 712, phone numbers 325-4640 or 325-4621. Appointments are appreciated; there is no available walk in times. Email addresses: firstname.lastname@example.org or email@example.com..
During the advising appointments, the academic counselor will review the Psy major coursework and discuss the program requirements for Psy careers. The student and advisor discuss course plans for fall/spring/summer semester's curriculum.
All students should be familiar with their degree requirements. These requirements are printed on a check sheet that is available from the College of Arts and Science or the Psychology web site: Standard Psychology Major Checklist. The General Catalog of OU should also be used in conjunction with the check sheet for course descriptions and prerequisites, as well as a reference for general information about the University of Oklahoma. It is not the academic counselor's responsibility to choose classes for the student; rather, Advisors discuss degree requirements, career options, and are available to help students with registration issues they may encounter during their undergraduate career (for example, explaining how to petition a grade, how to withdraw from a classes, finding a tutor, etc.).
All Psychology majors must be advised prior to enrolling for each semester. If you are a Psychology major, please schedule an advising appointment using the link, iAdvise.ou.edu. The departmental advisors prepare students during September for spring/summer advising, and February for fall advising. If you are a current student, please check Ozone or the Desire to Learn webpage, “Psychology Advising” tab for updates in Psychology advising news/events.
