Financial Support
|
Financial assistance to support graduate training can be obtained in a number of ways. Typically, the Department attempts
to fund as many of our graduate students as possible in the form of teaching or research assistantships. These assistantships also provide much lower
in-state tuition levels. In addition, individual faculty members with external funding may offer research assistantships to support students
working in their area. The Department has traditionally attempted to support all incoming students through one of these mechanisms to the degree financial
resources allow.
During the past 15 years, nearly all doctoral students desiring financial support were funded by the Department. Students are
automatically considered for funding upon acceptance into the program, although early application to our program is encouraged to insure such
financial aid consideration. The Department of Psychology awards fellowships as another source of financial support. The fellowships offered include: 0.50 FTE GA plus $7000 per academic year for five years, full tuition waiver, and sometime in the five years one semester of paid release-time and $2000 total in professional development funds.
Additional Department of Psychology funded research fellowships and funded research incentives are available.
