My research is interdisciplinary and focuses on the effectiveness of language within a narrative context. I utilize ideas from devlopmental psychology, literacy criticism, lingustics, and communication theory, as well as more traditional cognitive psychology, to frame research questions regarding the "sense" rather than the "truth" of knowledge. (Note: Because of my duties as Provost, I am not currently recruiting students.)
