The School of Library and Information studies offers the opportunity
to work as a Graduate Assistant (GA). GAs work with one or two faculty
members during the semester on research projects, instructional support,
and editorial support. On average ten GA positions are available each
fall and spring semester and up to 3 positions are available during
the summer. In addition to a monthly stipend, half-time GAs appointed
in the fall and spring semesters are eligible for a partial tuition
waiver.
Graduate assistants are hired for one semester, and may re-apply to work in subsequent semesters. Applications must be submitted by November 1 for the following spring semester and by March 1 for the following summer and fall semesters. An employed GA, who wishes to continue an appointment in a subsequent semester, should contact the Coordinator of Student Services by November 1 in the fall or March 1 in the spring and provide a recommendation for the position from the supervising faculty member(s). GAs must maintain a minimum 3.0 GPA. Current students are notified of the deadline for GA applications, and provided with an application via the School’s student email distribution list. Applications are also available through the SLIS office.
