Master of Library and Information Studies Scholarships
Scholarships are awarded competitively on the basis of demonstrated academic merit and potential for leadership in the library and information professions. Students must be fully admitted to the Master of Library and Information Studies program to be considered for a scholarship. Students who have been admitted conditionally are not eligible for scholarships administered by SLIS until they have satisfactorily completed six hours. In order to be considered for the subsequent academic year, students must submit applications no later than March 1st. There are specific scholarships that encourage and support diversity in several dimensions, including ethnic background and projected career direction. Since 2000, over 134 scholarships have been awarded by the School, totaling over $99,000.
The SLIS Admissions and Financial Aid Committee considers all applications for scholarships in the spring of each academic year. Applications are due in the School annually on March 1st. Current students are notified of the deadline for scholarships, and provided with an application via the School’s student email distribution list. Students may seek additional financial aid opportunities offered by the University through the Financial Aid Office, and outside of the University. Information about scholarship opportunities is made available to students through the School’s student email distribution list.
