Name of the Award:
The award shall be called the University of Oklahoma School of Library
& Information Studies Alumni Association Award of Merit.
Type of Award:
The award shall consist of three parts:
- A plaque which will be kept in the OU SLIS and updated with every award
presented.
- A certificate of award presented to the recipient.
- A $50 donation to the Irma Tomberlin Scholarship Fund, made in the name of
the recipient.
Criteria:
Any person receiving a Master's degree in Library Science from the University
of Oklahoma School of Library & Information Studies may be eligible for this
award if:
- The person has generated an active interest in the School and/or,
- The person has made an effective and innovative contribution to the
library profession and/or,
- The person has contributed to the professional literature.
Method of Selection:
Nominations will be solicited from alums and faculty members of the School. A
special form for documenting contributions of the nominees will be used.
A Nomination Committee will be appointed by the Executive board of the Alumni
Association to choose the recipient of the award.
Frequency of the Award:
An award may be given annually if so determined by the Nominating
Committee.
Presentation of the Award:
The award will be presented when and where the Alumni Board
decides.
Announcement of the Award:
The announcement will be made in all appropriate library publications.
