Degree Programs

SLIS offers one bachelors degree and two master's degrees.

The Bachelor of Arts in Information Studies is an interdisciplinary program that draws courses from a variety of departments and schools. This program is offered on the Norman campus and may also be complete online (computer and Internet access required). This degree requires a minimum of 54 semester hours, including 18 Information Studies core course hours, 21 elective hours and 15 hours of major support courses. Students must also complete the Arts and Sciences General Education requirements, for a total of 120 hours.

Both masters degrees are offered at the Norman Campus and the Tulsa Schusterman campus and many courses are available online or through flexible scheduling (weekends only, or a mix of in-class and online). Please check the individual semester course schedules for information on course offerings. Both master's level degrees require a minimum of 36 hours of coursework. Students in either program may complete their degree through one of two options: passing a comprehensive examination or defending a written thesis. MLIS students have the additional option of defending a portfolio to complete their degree.
