Candace Smith successfully defends her dissertation


 

Congratulations to Candace Smith, who successfully defended her dissertation, “Personal Experiences with Violence, Fear of Crime, and Mental Health Outcomes for Adolescents in Chicago,” on July 24th. Trina Hope served as the chair of Candace’s committee, along with committee members Connie Chapple, Julie Gerlinger, Amy Kroska, and outside committee member Warren Metcalf. Candace also earned her BA and MA degrees from the Sociology Department, maintaining a 4.0 GPA for her entire career at OU. Candace worked as a Research Fellow for the Oklahoma Policy Institute, and currently works as a statistical researcher for the Oklahoma Department of Human Services in the Office of Performance Outcomes and Accountability.
