Welcome to the Corporate Engagement and Career Development office in the College of Arts and Sciences. Our mission is to maximize your career potential by providing you with opportunities to explore your interests and gain valuable professional experience while also connecting you to our powerful network of employers. We work closely with OU Career Services and other areas on campus to inspire students to translate and apply their learning within and beyond the classroom into lives of professional accomplishment. We also provide employers with a high-quality recruitment experience with candidates to make any organization’s future brighter. Every Year

  • Meet with Career Counselor
  • Have resume and cover letters critiqued
  • Update resume with most recent job and involvement activity

  • Attend career fairs, workshops, and company information sessions
  • Use other job search sites, professors, and family friends to network
  • Maintain relationships with key faculty and other mentors
  • Check your web identity and clean up as needed
  • Send thank you notes after interviews, career fairs, and information sessions to thank recruiter for their time and express interest in company

Sophomore Year

  • Update your Career Services Handshake account
  • Research internship opportunities
  • Enroll in CAS 3091 Career Planning to learn job search strategies
  • Join campus organizations
  • Attend career fairs, workshops, and company information sessions
  • Start planning for study abroad experience

Junior Year

  • Research graduate and professional school programs
  • Attend Graduate and Professional School Fair if considering post-baccalaureate education
  • Review internship opportunities in Handshake
  • Sign up for mock interviews through Handshake
  • Seek out leadership opportunities in a campus organization
  • Degree check with college counselor to confirm graduation date
  • Report internship offers and acceptances to Career Services

Senior Year

  • Apply for interviews through Handshake account
  • Attend Graduate and Professional School Fair
  • Gather information on realistic salary expectations
  • Schedule informational meetings with professionals in fields of interest
  • Apply for graduation during final semester of coursework
  • Keep detailed records of your job search
  • Report job offers and acceptances to Career Services
  • Network/join professional organizations
