The University of Oklahoma has internationally renowned research programs in genomics and bioinformatics, and the University offers excellent opportunities for graduate students wishing to pursue a research career in this field. Department of Zoology bioinformatics faculty and students use advanced core facilities--including the Advanced Center for Genome Technology, the OU Microarray Core Facility, and the OU Supercomputing Center for Education & Research (OSCER)--for microarray and macroarray studies, real-time quantitative PCR, automated DNA sequencing, oligonucleotide synthesis, and supercomputing. Additional facilities for genomics and bioinformatics are under construction, with the new Peggy and Charles Stephenson Research and Technology Center due to open in early 2004. |
