ANSWERS

How do I get permission to enroll in Human Anatomy and/or Human Physiology?
You have to request permission online here. If you meet the requirements, you will receive permission in the time specified.

What requirements do I have to meet to enroll in Human Anatomy and/or Human Physiology?
You have to be declared officially a major or pre-professional track which requires these courses. Only students who have to have the courses are permitted to take them. You must also have completed (with final grades posted in the OU system) the prerequisite courses.

What are the majors or pre-professionals tracks that require Human Anatomy and/or Human Physiology?
Science Education, HES, Pre-Ultrasound, Pre-Radiography, Pre-Radiation Therapy, Pre-Nuclear Medicine, Pre-Pharmacy, Pre-Nutritional Sciences, Pre-Nursing, Pre-Dental Hygiene, Pre-Physician Assistant, Pre-Occupational Therapy, Pre-Physical Therapy

How do I declare a pre-professional track or major?
You can declare your major or pre-professional track in your assigned College office (i.e. University College, College of Arts and Sciences, College of Business etc.)

What are the pre-requisites for Human Anatomy or Human Physiology?
Human Anatomy (ZOO 2234 and ZOO 2255) requires the completion of ZOO 1114 and ZOO 1121 (Introductory Zoology lecture and lab) and have a recorded grade of C or better. Sophomore standing required.
Human Physiology (ZOO 2124) requires the completion of ZOO 1114 and ZOO 1121 (Introductory Zoology lecture and lab) and have a recorded grade of C or better AND completion of a college chemistry or physics course.

What if I am currently in a pre-requisite course?
You can request permission but your permission will not be entered until after grades are posted for the course. Grades are posted about 1 week after final exams and it takes on average a week check everyone’s grades before permissions can be entered.

When will my permission be entered?
If you have completed all the prerequisites and have the appropriate major or pre-professional track declared, we will enter your permission based on your classification. Senior permissions will be entered during the week of senior enrollment, juniors during junior enrollment etc. NOTE- your classification for enrollment always includes the hours you are currently enrolled in (i.e. count the hours that you are enrolled in when you list your classification on your request form).

Will I get permission early if I have early enrollment?
No, permission is entered based on classification.

How will I know that I have permission?
You will receive an automatic e-mail from Enroll when your permission is entered. You can also check if you have permission by clicking on the pink permission icon under your schedule on Enroll.

Will the pink icon that indicates permission is required go away?
No, that icon will be there if you have permission or not.

Today is the first day for enrollment for my classification. Why don’t I have permission yet?
We get hundreds of request for permission. It takes a couple days to enter everyone’s permissions.

If I filled out my request incorrectly, can I submit another request?
Yes, if you made a mistake you can re-submit your request. If your original request was filled out correctly DO NOT re-submit your request. This only makes the process longer.

I think I meet all the requirements but I haven’t received permission. What’s wrong?
First, read your e-mail receipt to make sure you filled in all the required fields correctly -  incomplete requests cannot be processed. Then, check on Enroll or Degree Navigator to make sure you are declared a pre-professional track or major that requires the course (if you are not – contact your college office to declare one). Also, check to see when your permission will be entered. If this all seems fine, then e-mail zooadvising@ou.edu to make an inquiry. Make sure you always include your ID number and the specific course number that you have requested permission for.

What do I do if the course is full? Is there a waiting list?
Keep checking on Enroll to see if students drop. You may be able to enroll before classes start if you catch an open seat. If not, you can show up the first day of lecture because there are students that drop the first few days. If you go and then you see a seat open up on Enroll, then you can enroll and you will not have missed class. There is no waiting list for these courses.

I received the e-mail indicating that I have permission but I am having trouble enrolling. What do I do?
Click on the exclamation point. If it says that you are missing a “co-requisite”, that means that you need to also enroll in the corresponding lecture or lab. Once you add both the lecture and lab to your schedule then the exclamation point will go away. If you see the pink permission, remember that it doesn’t go away even when you have permission – so go ahead and enroll.

*Reminder: Submission of an Electronic Special Permission Request does NOT guarantee permission to enroll or a spot on the waiting list.

For additional information or questions, please contact the Zoology Advising Office (Richards Hall 211A, 325-5661).

Click here to fill out an Electronic Special Permission Request for adding ZOO 2124, ZOO2255, or ZOO 2234.
