Annual Events

Each year, CBN faculty members, students, and other volunteers lead hands-on outreach activities to engage and teach people about the nervous system. We participate in multiple events each year, including Science in Action Day at the Sam Noble Museum in Norman, the Women in Science Conference in Tulsa or Oklahoma City, ScienceFest at the Oklahoma State Fairgrounds, and our own Brain Awareness Week event at Science Museum Oklahoma in Oklahoma City. Visitors to our exhibit can see and touch a real human brain, experience how their brain changes the way they throw as a result of wearing prism goggles, see and hear electrical signals from their own muscles, experience a proprioceptive illusion, and see how important synapses are by observing fruit flies with a temperature-sensitive mutation of a synaptic protein.
