Prospective Students

Financial Information

As a CBN student in good standing, you will receive a stipend through your home department (Biology, Aerospace & Mechanical Engineering, or Chemistry & Biochemistry) for service as either a research assistant (RA) or a teaching assistant (TA). Stipends vary depending on source of funding and may be as much as $2,395/mo. Annual reappointment as a TA or RA normally continues for at least five years with adequate progress toward the Ph.D. degree. You will also be considered for additional university and departmental fellowships and stipend supplements. Most students are expected to serve as a TA for at least two semesters to gain valuable teaching experience.

As an RA or TA, you will receive tuition waivers and health benefits. You will be eligible to apply for financial support to travel to scientific conferences from departmental, university, and professional society sources. Additional funds from these sources are also available to assist with some research expenses.
