Rome Summer Seminar
hosted by the University of Oklahoma

One of the popular programs of the Center is the annual Rome Summer Institute. The Institute offers an in depth study of the ruins of Rome as well as visits to many nearby Roman towns and archaeological sites. Activities of the Institute also include visits by American and Italian professors who give lectures on important architectural sites in Rome, including the below pictured Colosseum, Forum, Arch of Titus, and Pantheon.

For information contact Prof. Farland Stanley at fstanley@ou.edu

One of several ancient archaeological sites included in the Institute’s program of study is Pompeii. Students visit many of the structures and streets of the city as well as the ruins of nearby Herculaneum and museums in Naples. Typical features of Pompeii that are visited (pictured below) include its amphitheater, streets and shops, outdoor gymnasium, and homes.
