The Classical Archaeology Society (CLAS) is a student organization at the University of Oklahoma dedicated to the promotion of classical archaeology. Our mission is to help students cultivate a passion for archaeology and the classical world by providing them with many opportunities for learning and engaging with the archaeological community, in an extracurricular setting. Students in our organization share a passion for antiquity and we welcome anyone with an interest in archaeology.
We are a society that works closely with the OU Center for Classical Archaeology and Civilizations (CCAC), an organization founded and headed by Dr. Farland H. Stanley. Through our association with the CCAC, we are able to provide OU students with many opportunities to learn about archaeology and the ancient Mediterranean world. We host events that range in format from lectures given by the world's foremost archaeologists, to events that showcase student knowledge, like our Certamen quiz bowl and Undergraduate Colloquium.
We are grateful to our members and the OU community for having such immense interest in our organization and for the support they have given us; we are thriving because of them! The officers of the Classical Archaeology Society thank you for your interest in our organization and we hope to see you at our upcoming events!
