HEAT INTEGRATION
AND ENERGY
EFFICIENCY IN
THE TOTAL SITE
Heat integration and more
especially Pinch Analysis is a very well-known area of process Systems
engineering. We explore several aspects of heat integration in plants and in the
total site. Specifically, we study
- The retrofit problem. For this we have developed a very powerful MILP
methodology.
- Heat integration in the total site, especially the use of heat pumps.
- We apply these methods to the retrofit of existing units and especially crude
fractionation units.
Software
- A
program is being developed to perform one step, non iterative design and
retrofit of heat exchanger networks.
