TWO WAY SLAB

Design Methods

Analysis of 2-way slabs
=================
1. direct design method
2. equivalent frame method

The following methods
should be used when:
unusual geometric configurations
supports at irregular intervals
continuity of slab interrupted
3. finite analysis
4. model analysis
5. yield-line analysis
6. elastic continuum

Direct Design Method

The Direct Design Method
is based on the
moment distribution between
supports and midspan
the following conditions must apply
1. min 3 continuous spans
2. span to be similar length
	max 1/3 length difference
3. live load to be uniform
	< 3 * dead load
4. rectangular panels
	long/short max 2.
5. 0.2

Equivalent Frame Method

Equivalent Frame Method:
====================
Applies if conditions for direct design method are not fulfilled.
Based on Interaction of slab and column
Pattern loading may be used
if live load exceeds 75% of dead load
Distinguish between
Exterior Column
Interior Column
