How to run AutoCAD on the HP unix systems at ECN - OU
I appologize for the inconvenience you may have with the network.
Be assured it is not your fault that you are having problems.
Everybody has the same problems - only some are luckier.
Neither is it AutoCAD which is causing these problems.
It is the set-up we are running the program in.
Step by step
Log in:
1. username
2. password
both are issued by ecn
3. double click on the desktop icon (box with calculator, pencil and ruler) on the lower right hand corner
4. on the next screen you see the desktop icon on the upper left hand corner double click it
5. on the next screen you see a computer icon on the lower right hand corner double click it
6. you should see %
7. type acad
8. you should see the AutoCAD graphic screen after a minute
Warning, please don't all try to log in at the same time
you will overload the network and it crashes on you
if 20 users already are locked in it will denie you access
DO NOT Turn off computer as it will lock everybody else up too
motify ECN staff in the basement of Felgar to come and help
9. NO Menu
if you run into troubles and you have no menu do the following
10. click files in acad
11. click unlock
12. click ecn
13. click acad
14. click support
15. click acad.mnx
this should unlock the menu file
16. click configure (config)
17. hit the enter key
18. type 7
19. type 13
20. type no you have to type in no hitting enter does not help
21. menu
22. acad.mnu
23. If you still don't see a menu contact ECN in the basement of Felgar
24. If you barely see a menu because of the color configuration
you may want to lock out of acad and
pick the color palette on the right hand corner of the HP screen
and pick a color configuration such as neptune
25.Configuring a plotter
after entering acad and seeing the graphics screen
type config at the command prompt
26. pick configure plotter
27. plotter type 12 (standard or your choice)
28. color output no
29. ^z no
30. ^D no
31. device name . (dot not a space)
32. changes no
33. description postscript
34. save window positions yes
35. continue standard setup
36. save settings yes
37. printing
38. click file (upper left hand corner - toolbar)
39. click print
40. click plot to file
41. enter file name with extension .plt
42. click ok.
43. click file (upper left hand corner - toolbar)
44. click exit
(this will exit autocad, don't do this if the system is busy, you may not get back in)
45. % sign
46. type lpr_Pcecs1811 filename.plt
underline
Capital P
this will output it ot the printer in the Carson graphics lab SB18
