GROUP PROJECT:
CREATING A RESPONSIBLE ENVIRONMENT FOR DRINKING ALCOHOL-CONTAINING BEVERAGES

OBJECTIVES:

1. to generate a list of behaviors that encourage responsible drinking of alcohol-containing beverages
2. to increase students' knowledge of things they can do to encourage responsible drinking of alcohol-containing beverages
3. to stimulate discussion concerning the issue of responsibility if / when choosing to use alcohol

METHODOLOGY:

1. form project groups (4 students to a group)
2. establish a group definition of "responsible drinking"
3. brainstorm various individual behaviors that encourage responsible use of alcohol
4. brainstorm various group behaviors (e.g., family, friends, fraternity / sorority) that encourage responsible use of alcohol
5. discuss list of individual and group behaviors to determine appropriateness; then prioritize list by each behavior's potential to impact  and encourage responsibility
6. hand in prioritized group list of behaviors at the end of class

(NOTE. It may help to consider the various factors which can effect drinking behavior. Don't be afraid to use PRECEDE in this project.)
