Netscape 4.0+ E-Mail

Those of you wanting to get Netscape 4.0+ e-mail working should read Mail and Group Prefs (page 327), and Mail Server (page 331) in the required textbook, and look at the links below:

http://www.ou.edu/helpdesk/documentation.html
http://www.ou.edu/dcts/training/tips/using%20netscape%20mail.htm

Notice the OU Helpdesk image examples are for Netscape 3.0.
Use the textbook (p. 331) to make the necessary transformations to Netscape Communicator 4.0+

Avoid confusion...,

Be certain your Reply To Address is correct...,  Send E-Mail to yourself..., then Reply To the Message. (Check for accuracy).  If your Reply To is incorrect, people that get your e-mail messages will not be able to respond.  (and it "looks" very unprofessional!)

Reference: Identity (page: 329) of the required textbook for more details.

If you need help at OU..., try the help desk.  You may obtain technical support by telephone at (405) 325-4636 (325-INFO); and by e-mail to info@ou.edu.

These folks will help you get "whatever you need." (be polite)

All WebStudy students..., (as you are able), add your name to the list-server.

As you can see in the instructions, your e-mail message will be sent to every class member simultaneously.  This powerful tool will allow you to address (speak to) the entire class.  Read the instructions carefully.  You use one address to put your name on the list, and another e-mail address to actually send messages to the list members.

Secondary software you will use:

This software is not required at all..., but is useful to some students (and groups) the second and third week of WebStudy.  Ultimately, to create "good" web pages you will need all of this software..., (or something similar).

You must use you Netscape Back Button to return here from the links (below).
WS_FTP™ Professional  Where to get it,... and how to use it!

A very good "screen capture" software try...,
Hypersnap DX  Download the Software!
If you need Image Mapping Software Go To:
Boutell Com, Inc. FAQ's and Download the Software!
Netscape Helper Applications (Plug-in's) ...your choice! (more about that in Week 3).
