Glossary of Terms
Directory Tree- This is a file structure that resembles the branches of a tree. You start out with one major root and move along certain branches of the tree until you find what you are looking for.
FTP- File Transfer Protocol this is the protocol used by the Internet and UNIX machines to transfer files between servers and clients
GUI- Graphical User Interface These are pictures within an operating system that make normally cryptic and difficult tasks much easier for the user
Linux- This is a Free ware version of the UNIX operating system.
UNIX- This is an Operating system designed
in the late 1960's at Bell Labs to allow Scientist to share information
among each other. Over time it has developed into an impressive OS.
