ZAP is the "Zoology Aide Program" located in Richard's Hall 207. The purpose of ZAP is to provide free tutoring to students enrolled in Introduction to Zoology 1114 for Fall or Spring, since it is such a large class (~550 in the Spring and ~1000 in the Fall). Secondarily, the ZAP tutors will help answer questions of students taking other Zoology courses, if the individual tutor is comfortable with the subject.
Students initiated ZAP and it is student-staffed. The ZAPers are undergraduates who have taken the Introduction Zoology course previously and done very well (and, of course, had an interest in tutoring). The ZAP schedule varies from semester to semester, but the room is usually occupied between 9:00-5:00, Monday-Friday during the Fall and Spring semesters (except holidays and finals week). Questions about ZAP or the 1114 class should be directed to Melody Brooks at zoo1114@ou.edu. |
