Nina Livesey, Ph.D.
Associate Professor Interdisciplinary Studies
Nina Livesey is Associate Professor of Interdisciplinary and Religious Studies in the College of Liberal Studies. She received her Ph.D. in Religious Studies from Southern Methodist University in Dallas and holds a master's degree in Theological Studies from Phillips Theological Seminary in Tulsa.
Dr. Livesey has been teaching online courses for CLS since fall 2006 and began with “The Bible as Literature,” a course she continues to teach. She is a published author of a book and numerous peer-reviewed articles. A second book is forthcoming in fall 2016. Her area of expertise is Pauline Studies, yet her interests range from Christian origins, biblical interpretations, the New Testament and rhetoric, women in scripture, and to religion and the environment.
Dr. Livesey is a fellow, active member and on the Board of Directors of Westar Institute, an organization dedicated to religious literacy. Along with Dr. Clayton Jefford, she co-edits Westar’s scholarly journal Forum. She serves on the steering committee of Westar’s Christianity Seminar and formerly co-chaired the committee. She has given public presentations nationwide on the subject of religious literacy.
