Cultural Excursions
Participants and their guests will have the opportunity to attend six different cultural excursions highlighting the cultural diversity of the “City Different.”
Registration and payment for cultural excursions will be on a first-come, first-serve basis at the conference registration table.
A Taste of Santa Fe Tour
October 11 ~ 5:00-8:00 p.m.
Come and enjoy a relaxing dining experience. Transportation will be provided to the square for an evening of fine dining and native cuisine. Santa Fe is home to many award-winning restaurants such as the Coyote Café, La Plazuela, the Pink Adobe, the Blue Corn, and the Guadelupe Café to name a few. Weather and time permitting, an optional excursion to view the spectacular sunset on the San Christo Mountains and the City of Santa Fe from 9,000 feet will be offered. Fee: $0. Participants pay for own meals.
The Rodeo Drive of Santa Fe Tour
October 12 ~ 9:00 a.m.-1:00 p.m.
Spend the morning viewing and visiting artist studios on Canyon Road—the Rodeo Drive of the Southwest—followed by a docent tour of the Museum of Indian Arts and Culture (MIAC). Lunch will be at the MIAC café complex. Fee: $20. Participants pay for own meals.
Jackalopes Really Do Exist Tour
October 12 ~ 2:00 p.m.-6:30 p.m.
As seen on HGTV, come along for a most unique shopping experience at the Jackalope. You will have the opportunity to shop for unique home furnishings and outdoor living merchandise from around the world. Fee: $0.
Opening Reception at the Gerald Peters Gallery
October 12 ~ 6:30 p.m.
Thursday evening’s opening reception will be held at the beautiful Gerald Peter’s Gallery, home for one of America’s finest collection of paintings and sculptures in Santa Fe. Participants will enjoy exquisite art and a Native American flute performance. Complimentary roundtrip transportation from Hilton to Gerald Peters will be provided.
The Miraculous Tour
October 13 ~ 9:00 a.m. -3:00 p.m.
Visit some of the most spiritual sites of Santa Fe. You will visit the oldest-known church in the United States, the miraculous staircase at the Loretto Chapel, and the Santuario de Chimayo—a site where ½ million people visit each year to view the “healing dirt.” Lunch will be in Chimayo at the Rancho de Chimayo. Time permitting a visit to Ortega Weaving shop will be included. Fee: $25. Participants pay for own meals and entrance into Loretto Chapel ($2.50).
Bandelier National Monument Tour
October 14 ~ 9:00 a.m.-12:00 noon
Come tour and hike Bandelier National Monument, best known for mesas, sheer-walled canyons, and the several thousand ancestral Pueblo dwellings found among them. Bandelier is comprised of over 23,000 acres of designated wilderness. We will visit the Frijoles Canyon, the best-known archeological sites near the Visitor Center, that were most recently inhabited from the 1100s into the mid-1500s, as well as earlier groups that used the area for thousands of years. On the return trip, we will stop at White Rock overlook for a spectacular view of the Rio Grande and San Ildefonso Pueblo and Mesa. Fee: $25.
