Drop/Withdraw Policy for CLS Courses

DROPPING A COURSE:

  1. No grade for dropping a course up to last business day before class begins.
  2. Students must drop the course using the Online Enrollment System (http://enroll.ou.edu). You will receive an email confirmation of dropping the course. If you do not receive a confirmation the course was not dropped.
  3. Student is not responsible for any tuition or fees.

WITHDRAWING FROM AN 8-WEEK ONLINE/ON-SITE COURSE:

  1. No grade is recorded if student withdraws within ONE WEEK after course begins. Students must drop the course using the Online Enrollment System (http://enroll.ou.edu) and notify the BA LS Program Staff or the MA LS Program Staff of the withdrawal depending on their program of study. Note: Notifying the faculty member of intent to withdraw will not result in a student withdrawal.
  2. Tuition and fees will be refunded if course is dropped during the first week of the course.

WITHDRAWAL IN THE LAST TWO WEEKS IN AN 8-WEEK COURSE:

  1. A grade of A-F, W (Withdraw), or I (Incomplete) will be assigned for the course if student is enrolled and has submitted coursework.  A student may not withdraw from a course without approval from the faculty member two weeks before the end of the course.  Within the two week period, the faculty member will have at their discretion the following options regarding the student’s assignments: 1) Grade the remaining course work and assign a final grade; 2) Arrange an alternative deadline for completion; or 3) Grant the student’s request to withdraw from the course.  In all cases, the student is instructed to contact their advisor or the Program Administrator in writing of their intent in the course.
  2. Student is responsible for all tuition and fees, NO REFUND WILL BE GIVEN.

WITHDRAWING FROM A 16-WEEK COURSE:

  1. No grade is recorded if student withdraws during the Free Add/Drop period (first two weeks of the course). Students must drop the course using the Online Enrollment System (http://enroll.ou.edu) and notify the BA LS Program Staff or the MA LS Program Staff of the withdrawal depending on their program of study. Note: Notifying the faculty member of intent to withdraw will not result in a student withdrawal.
  2. Tuition and fees will be refunded if course is dropped during the first two weeks of the course.
  3. After the first two weeks of the course NO REFUND WILL BE GIVEN and the student is responsible for paying all tuition and fees for the course.

WITHDRAWAL IN THE LAST FOUR WEEKS IN A 16-WEEK COURSE:

  1. A grade of A-F, W (Withdraw), or I (Incomplete) will be assigned for the course if student is enrolled and has submitted coursework.  A student may not withdraw from a course without approval from the faculty member within the four weeks before the end of the course.  Within the four week period, the faculty member will have at their discretion the following options regarding the student’s assignments: 1) Grade the remaining course work and assign a final grade; 2) Arrange an alternative deadline for completion; or 3) Grant the student’s request to withdraw from the course.  In all cases, the student is instructed to contact their advisor or the Program Administrator in writing of their intent in the course.

WITHDRAWING FROM A LONG TERM (1 YEAR ENROLLMENT) COURSE:

  1. No grade is recorded if student withdraws during the Free Add/Drop period (first four weeks of the course). Students must notify the BA LS Program or MA LS Program Staff to request withdrawal depending on their program of study. Note: Notifying the faculty member of intent to withdraw will not result in a student withdrawal.
  2. Tuition and fees will be refunded if course is dropped during the first four weeks of the course.
  3. After the first four weeks of the course NO REFUND WILL BE GIVEN and the student is responsible for paying all tuition and fees for the course.

ADMINISTRATIVE WITHDRAWAL:

  1. A grade of ‘AW’ (Administrative Withdrawal) will be assigned if student has submitted no work assignments for the course, and has failed to work with the instructor on a plan to finish assignments. The AW grade is considered a permanent grade. Students who receive a grade of AW are not eligible for a refund. A student wishing to repeat a course in which a grade of AW has been assigned will be required to re-enroll and re-pay for the course.
  2. Student is responsible for all tuition and fees, NO REFUND WILL BE GIVEN.

FINANCIAL AID STUDENTS: Dropping or withdrawing from a course may have an effect on your Financial Aid and you should contact them before you drop or withdraw from a course after the term has started. lsaid@ou.edu, 405-325-2929
