End of Semester

There is usually some confusion at the end of the semester about which date is the actual end date for our accelerated 8-week courses. Invariably, we will have students asking faculty members when the absolute last date for submitting assignments will be. The OU main campus has Finals Week from December 11th to the 15th. So why does CLS end on December 8th ?

Officially, our second session 8-week courses end at midnight, Friday of this week, December 8th, UNLESS OTHERWISE PROVIDED BY YOUR FACULTY MEMBER. That is exactly 8 weeks from the October 16th start of the second 8-week session.

IMPROVING YOUR WRITING
For most of us, improving our writing is an ongoing process. Here are ten important things to consider that might help your writing. The next time you write a paper, read through this list and see how many of them you have taken care of in your paper.

1. Topic Sufficiently Covered?
2. Concepts Discussed Adequately?
3. Strength, Depth, and Maturity of Ideas, Arguments, and Concepts Advanced?
4. Position Taken and Defended Well?
5. Writing Style (clear, coherent, error-free)?
6. Organization of the Paper?
7. Effective Use of On-line and Text Material?
8. Ideas Integrated Well?
9. Citation Style and Use of References?
10. Overall Effectiveness?

Internet Explorer 7 is now available for download from Microsoft. We have tested it here in CLS and find no problems with our websites. http://learn.ou.edu/ is making no claims either way, but testing here has shown no problems. In the worse case, you can always un-install it manually.
