
John A. and Donnie V. Brock are Oklahoma natives. Donnie is a former educator having taught elementary school in Oklahoma and Texas. John is Chairman of the Board of Brighton Energy, LLC. He served as an artillery officer in the Korean War, serves on several boards of directors, and is a member of the Oklahoma Hall of Fame. They both are active in civic organization and are patrons of the arts.
The Brock Family Community Foundation is an affiliate of the Tulsa Community Foundation. The sole purpose of the Foundation is the awarding of the Brock International Prize in Education and the establishment of the Brock Symposium on Excellence in Education. The directors of the Foundation are John A. Brock; D. Blake Atkins, attorney; and Thomas W. Wilkins, President of the Trust Company of Oklahoma. The Trust Company of Oklahoma manages the Foundation's funds. The John and Donnie Brock Foundation has endowed the Brock Family Community Foundation with $1,000,000 to ensure the continuation of the prize in perpetuity. Other foundations will be welcomed as participants in the symposium. The Prize, the cost of administration of the prize, and travel expenses for jury members and the laureate are provided by the Brock Family Community Foundation.
