Spring 2008
Convocation Information

Seating:
Seating in the Paul F. Sharp Concert Hall is limited. We ask that you limit your guests to no more than six people. We guarantee that you will have seating for six guests in Sharp Concert Hall. We have made arrangements to broadcast to Pitman Concert Hall in Catlett Music center as overflow space for your remaing guests. As we receive the final head counts, we may be able to open attendance further in Sharp. Please check back with the College after May 1, 2008.

Cap and Gown Reservation:
Enclosed in the mailing from the CLS office is a cap and gown reservation card. Complete this card, enclose the appropriate fee, and mail it to:

Your fee should include 7.5% sales tax (Undergraduate $32.25, Graduate $53.75).  Please do NOT send your cap and gown card to the College of Liberal Studies.

Reserved caps and gowns may be picked up from the OU Bookstore beginning March 24.  If you would like the bookstore to mail your cap and gown, please request this when you order and add $8.00 to the cost.  Your order will be shipped after upon receipt via UPS ground delivery.  The Bookstore will be open on May 10 from 8:00 a.m. — 2:00 p.m. if you would like to pick up your cap and gown on the morning of Convocation

The deadline to order and reserve your cap and gown is April 1 by 5:00 p.m..

The deadline to order and reserve will be announced as soon as we have it.

Graduation Announcements:
Please contact the OU Bookstore to order your announcements.  Allow two weeks for the order to arrive at the Bookstore.

Application for Graduation
All OU students must apply for graduation. An OU APPLICATION FOR GRADUATION was sent to College of Liberal Studies candidates and graduates in a separate mailing. If you have not submitted an Application for Graduation, please contact Jennifer Gatlin for the undergraduate program or Michelle Shults for the graduate program at 800-522-4389 or 405-325-1061.

Please note that completing the Application for Graduation does not mean you are cleared for graduation.  If you have incomplete general education courses, or need to makeup “I” grades from previous semesters, you will not officially graduate until you have done so.

 

Graduating with Distinction or Special Distinction
If you have maintained a cumulative retention grade point average between 3.6 and 3.99 while working toward your Bachelor of Arts in Liberal Studies degree, you will be designated as a Graduate with Distinction (3.6 to 3.79) or a Graduate with Special Distinction (3.8 to 3.99). If you are graduating with either designation, you are eligible to wear a special gold hood over your graduation robes during the Convocation ceremony. The hood will be provided to you by the OU Bookstore at the same time you receive your cap and gown.

The College of Liberal Studies provides the OU Bookstore with a list of Distinction and Special Distinction B.A.L.S. graduates. If your name is not on the list at the bookstore, you will not receive the special regalia. If you believe you have been left off of the list in error, please check your grade point status by visit the OU Online Student Services webpage and printing out an unofficial copy of your transcript. If you have been left off of the list in error, or if you have questions about your grade point status, please contact Frank Rodriquez at frankr@ou.edu.

If you have maintained a perfect 4.0 cumulative retention grade point average throughout your undergraduate education (on all hours completed, from every institution attended), you may be eligible for a special 4.0 Convocation Medallion. Contact Frank Rodriquez for additional information.
