Service Member FAQs

How do I get started as a military service member?
  1. Report to your duty station;
  2. Contact your Installation Education Center and speak with an Education Counselor (ESO); and
  3. Visit the College of Liberal Studies Prospective Students page.

For an unofficial evaluation of previous college course work, military training, and experience, contact the CLS Recruitment Coordinator, Aaron Jones.

Can I get a degree if I'm stationed overseas?
Yes! OU/CLS (College of Liberal Studies) 100% online degrees can be completed anywhere you have access to a computer and the Internet. So you can get your degree no matter where you are stationed.

How many places will I have to visit online to complete the application and enrollment processes?
Because OU/CLS is a GoArmyEd partner, admission, enrollment. and Army tuition assistance can all be done at the GoArmyEd Web site.

If I'm on active duty, am I required to take admissions tests?
Prospective students who are serving on active duty are not required to take any entrance exams in order to be admitted to the University of Oklahoma.

Just how valuable is an online degree compared to a traditional degree?
The degree you earn online while serving your country is just as valuable as the degree your high school buddies are earning on campus.

What if I have credits from another university?
As a SOC (Service Member’s Opportunity College) OU/CLS works with other SOC universities to help service members get their degrees as quickly as possible. We can help you transfer credits earned at another SOC university to your OU degree program.

How much will my OU/CLS degree cost compared to other online institutions?
The OU/CLS degree is offered a half, sometimes even a third, of the price it would cost you to attend other less prestigious “online” institutions. The OU/CLS degree is a real value.
