In the early 1950s, Bradley McDonald of Enid was among many young undergraduate students attending the University of Oklahoma. He was working toward a bachelor of arts degree, which he completed in 1956. Along the way, two men would make a lasting impression on him as outstanding educators - two he would never forget.
Twenty-eight years after he graduated from OU, fond recollections of the two led McDonald permanently to honor their inspiration and teaching excellence with an annual week long seminar that features prominent visiting scholars or national figures, all known worldwide.
Celebrating 25 years of outstanding success in 2010, the Feaver-MacMinn Seminar honors Dr. J. Clayton Feaver, distinguished David Ross Boyd Professor of Philosophy and Dr. Paul MacMinn, Professor of Psychology and Dean of Students. In the years prior to his retirement. Dr. Feaver also served as Director of the renowned Oklahoma Scholar-Leadership Enrichment Program; Dr. MacMinn closed his career at Ohio State University.
After graduating from OU, McDonald earned a law degree at Georgetown University and went on to build a successful civil law practice in Washington D. C. His desire to provide enduring testament to Drs. Feaver and MacMinn eventually led to establishment of the endowed seminar in their names through the OU College of Liberal Studies.
Today McDonald says: "I am deeply honored to help give permanent recognition to two exceptional people - J. Clayton Feaver and Paul MacMinn. They touched the lives of hundreds of students in their years at the university and were willing to give extra time whenever it was needed, individually or to a group. They strongly impressed every student with whom they had contact, and I am certain these students join me in this expression of gratitude.
