GRADUATE CHEMICAL ENGINEERING – WHAT WE HAVE FOR YOU – OUTSTANDING OFFER PACKAGE!
1. OU is a highly ranked university!

2. OU Chemical Engineering Graduate Program gives a very good stipend package to students on assistantships!
+ Typical yearly stipend of $25,000, depending on project and qualifications.
+ Waivers of both in-state and out-of state tuition for courses towards degree, usually around $ 15,000 per year.
+ Waiver of the basic student health insurance cost, currently over $ 1,600.
You would pay only around $5,800 in average additional fees, parking and books.
Some schools offer high stipends but no waivers.
Stipends plus waivers valued at $15,000 = estimated packages of $40,000!
3. You can go directly into the Ph.D. program, without obtaining an M.S. degree first, and participate in both traditional and new research areas!
We accept both M.S. and Ph.D. applicants. Master’s students often stay for their Ph.D. degrees.
4. Focusing on research in strategic areas!
+ renewable energy and materials – production of fuel from biomass products, thermocatalytic conversion of biomass via pyrolysis, selective catalytic conversions, triglyceride conversions, renewable specialty chemicals, photocatalytic partial oxidation.
+ environmental remediation – CO2 capture and sequestration, water purification.
+ tissue engineering – development of natural and synthetic materials used, e.g., in prosthetic devices.
+ materials engineering – including synthesis, characterization, modeling and application of nano-structured materials including carbon nanotubes, graphene sheets, polymers, zeolites, nanoparticles, stimuli -responsive particles, etc.
+ energy – conventional and alternate energy research, enhanced oil recovery, natural gas utilization, hydrogen energy systems, techno-economic studies.
+ surfactants – nanostructures on surfaces, applications to energy, environmental cleanup, materials, phase behavior, admicellar polymerization.
+ polymers – nanocomposities, novel composites, melt-blown and melt-spun fibers, structure-property relationships, characterization, processing, membrane separation
5. We also have some expense paid visits to the campus for students with a GPA of 3.25 or above and located in the U.S.!
Come in on Friday morning, visit with faculty and students, see the campus and leave on Sunday. See how much we have to offer and how nice our campus and community are. In addition, students who meet the criteria and are invited in for a visit will have their university application fee paid for by the department.

Reasonable cost of living. Part of this comes from the very reasonable housing expenses. You can rent a one bedroom apartment beginning at $500 (often including utilities), either on campus or within walking distance to campus.
Championship sports teams. OU Football, 7 National Championships and 5 Heisman Trophy winners, and the Oklahoma City Thunder major league basketball team.
