Research Interests:
Dr. Chamberlain’s research interests include the incorporation of socioeconomic impacts into a comprehensive LCA of water system options in emerging economies.
Dr. Chamberlain’s educational interests include offering the skills, technologies and methodology necessary for appropriate construction and implementation of sustainable water and sanitation projects for emerging regions. He also has an interest in engineering education and real-world applications of Catholic social teaching.

Research Interests:
Dr. Kolar is interested in computational issues in water resources and focuses on the development of efficient, robust algorithms for finite element shallow water models; high performance computing; numerical analysis; equation development using averaging theory; variably-saturated groundwater flow and transport; and applications ranging from hydrodynamic models of estuaries, bays and impoundments to infiltration models.

Dr. Kolar's educational research interests include alternative educational paradigms, the role of high technology in the classroom, introducing design throughout the curriculum, project-based just-in-time learning, and teaching critical thinking.

Research Interests
Watershed and ecosystem-scale examinations of pollutant transport and fate, especially trace metal contaminants in abandoned mining areas of North and South America.  Design, construction and evaluation of ecologically engineered passive treatment systems, especially for coal and hard rock mine waters, agricultural pollution, urban stormwater and waste water.  Ecosystem restoration and creation for mutual benefit of society and nature, especially freshwater wetlands.

Technical Areas:  Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Groundwater Quality, Water and Wastewater Treatment

Research Interests:
Dr. Sabatini’s research interests in Water Technologies for Emerging Regions include integrating culture/behavior, business/supply chain and technology in pursuit of sustainable solutions.

Dr. Sabatini's research interests in Groundwater Quality Management include fate and transport of pollutants in the groundwater environment, surfactant-based technologies for expediting remediation of subsurface contamination, and use of passive treatment (permeable reactive walls) for water quality management.

Dr. Sabatini's research interests in Water and Wastewater Treatment include treatment and/or recovery of municipal and industrial water and wastewater streams utilizing physicochemical systems, with an emphasis on surfactant-contaminant separation and surfactant reuse.
