Thordur Runolfsson

Thordur Runolfsson received his BS in Electrical and Computer Engineering and Math at the University of Wisconsin in 1983 and his Ph.D. in EE-Systems from the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor in 1988.

He started his academic career at the Johns Hopkins University in 1989 where he stayed until 1998 when he moved to the University of Iceland. He joined the School of Electrical and Computer Engineering at the University of Oklahoma in 2003. In addition to his academic positions, Runolfsson has an extensive industrial experience that includes United Technologies Research Center (UTRC) in Connecticut where he worked for almost three years before joining OU and Rafhonnun, a consulting engineering firm based in Iceland, that he has been affiliated with for more than ten years.

Runolfsson was an Associate editor for the IEEE Transaction on Automatic Control from 1996-1998 and has been an Associate Editor for Mathematical Problems in Engineering since 2001. He is a senior member of IEEE and member of ASME.

His research interests include systems and control, complex dynamical systems, uncertainty analysis, modeling and simulation, power systems and energy efficiency. Runolfsson has published numerous articles as well as participated in many conferences over his career.
