Chris Ramseyer

Chris Ramseyer has been associated with Fears Lab since 1994. First as a student till 1999 then as an adjunct faculty member till 2005.  He earned his Ph.D. from OU in 2005, and joined the faculty on January 1st, 2006.  Upon retirement, he became an adjunct instructor in CEES.

Chris is an expert in structural design and teaches steel at the graduate level.  His teaching skills are exemplary, and while working as a graduate student, he won the prestigious George Tauxe faculty teaching award for 2004.  Since joining the faculty he has also won the College of Engineering, Alumni Teaching award in 2007 and the George Tauxe faculty teaching award for a second time in 2011. 

Chris is also an excellent researcher, and is currently performing large-scale experimental efforts at Fears Lab, including testing oil-drilling structures at loads ranging to millions of pounds of force.

Research Interests
Concrete materials with an emphasis on shrinkage compensating concrete, rapid setting concrete and early strength fly ash concrete.  Structural concrete with an emphasis on shrinkage, dimensional stability (warp and curl) and fatigue.  Structural cold formed steel with an emphasis on built up sections and torsional purlin bracing.  Residential wood framing with an emphasis on lateral bracing systems and high wind resistant design.  Dr. Ramseyer has performed field research on airfield pavements, bridges, slabs on ground and concrete tanks.
