Shell Fall Fest and New Engineers Welcome

Fall Fest

Engineering students can start the school year off right by learning about all the student organizations within the Gallogly College of Engineering and Mewbourne College of Earth and Energy. This festival welcomes new and returning students back to campus to kick-off the fall semester, including corporate sponsor booths, a dunk tank and other carnival games, free hamburgers, snow cones and tshirts, an involvement fair, and several raffle prizes.

Each fall, a huge job and internship fair is held at the Lloyd Noble Center specifically for all engineering majors to provide a chance to network. This gives students an opportunity to engage with potential employers and gain a better understanding of potential careers and career paths in the fields of engineering.

Student Leadership Retreat


The Student Leadership Retreat is during the fall semester each year. The retreat is hosted by the Engineering Club and Jerry Holmes Leadership Program for Engineers and Scientists, but it is open to all students in the Gallogly and Mewbourne Colleges who want to engage in leadership development activities. 

This event is sponsored by Boeing.

The Engineers' Club and Gallogly Royalty participate in CAC's Homecoming each fall and design a float that will wow the masses. 

All are welcome to join in the building of the float. The float is build dates and times will be announced closer to Homecoming.

Engineers' Week

Every February, hundreds of thousands of engineers all over the world celebrate Engineers' Week. At OU, students, faculty, and staff celebrate the founding of their discipline by their patron, Saint Patrick.

The week features fun events including:

Women in Engineering Month

Women in Engineering Month activities are dedicated to celebrating the advancement and achievement of women in engineering and sciences at OU.

We will celebrate Women's History Month in March and join the nation in commemorating and encouraging the study, observance and celebration of the vital role of women in American history, specifically in STEM applications. Events will be consistent with WiE guiding pillars of outreach, service, personal and professional development.

Holmes Leadership Symposium

Holmes Leadership Symposium Students

The Jerry Holmes Leadership Program for Engineers & Scientists will host our biennial Engineering Leadership Symposium on Thursday, March 5, 2020. The symposium will feature a keynote talks and breakout sessions of various styles, including interactive workshops and panel discussions, all related to this year's theme of diversity in leadership. Attendance is open to everyone in the OU community, especially students in engineering, geosciences, and related disciplines.

The Leadership Symposium is a highlight of the Jerry Holmes Leadership Program for Engineers & Scientists. JHLP is designed to help engineering & applied science students develop the leadership skills necessary to meet modern challenges, particularly those encountered in complex environments.


Diversity and Inclusion Banquet Sponsored by BP

Diversity and Inclusion is a priority on our campus, and the achievements of our diverse student body is testimony to that ideal. Open to all students, the OU College of Engineering Diversity Programs facilitate the outreach, recruitment, retention and overall success of underrepresented students. At the end of each Spring semester, D&I hosts a banquet to celebrate and recognize the achievements of the organization and its students.
