Commencement has been moved to Lloyd Noble Center, 2900 S. Jenkins Ave.
Dear Faculty Member,
OU’s Commencement is the single most important academic event of the year. Held each year in May, Commencement brings together the entire University community to celebrate the academic achievements of all our graduates. The ceremony will be held at 7 pm Friday, May 10, at The Gaylord Family - Oklahoma Memorial Stadium, 180 W. Brooks St.
This year, I will be highlighting the faculty during the ceremony. I invite you, as a faculty member, to be a part of the official party, along with the doctoral candidates and the platform guests. Rather than processing with the students, faculty will gather and process alongside the platform party.
Faculty members are asked to gather at 6 pm at the stadium. Additional details and instructions will be sent to you at the beginning of May. Faculty who are hooding a doctoral candidate should follow the instructions for doctoral hooding process.
To be a part of the official Commencement party, please complete this RSVP form by Friday, May 3. If you are participating in the doctoral hooding process with a student, there is no need to complete the RSVP form.
Commencement 2019 will include the academic processional into the stadium led by Bagpipes and Drums and the presentation of college banners and flags representing the home countries of our international students, faculty and staff, as well as the 39 Tribal Nations that dwell in the State of Oklahoma. Once again this year, the ceremony will conclude with a gigantic fireworks display.
In the event of inclement weather this year, Commencement will be held at 7 pm at the Lloyd Noble Center, located at 2900 South Jenkins Ave. Faculty should report at 6 pm. to the Lloyd Noble Center east and west mid-level entrances. No faculty or graduate processional will be held at Lloyd Noble Center. Graduation candidates and faculty should go directly to the designated seating locations.
Academic regalia should be worn at Commencement and Convocation ceremonies. The Graduation Office provides new faculty members with an OU gown and hood, along with a mortarboard at no cost. To secure your regalia, please complete this form by no later Friday, April 26.
For additional information you may contact the Graduation Office, at (405) 325-0841 or via email at email@example.com. You also will find Commencement information at ou.edu/commencement.
I hope you will join me in congratulating our soon-to-be OU graduates. I look forward to seeing you on May 10!
James L. Gallogly
