Commencement Inclement Weather Plan

The inclement weather plan only refers to the University Commencement ceremony held on the evening of Friday, May 11, 2012.

 

When and Where:


In the event of inclement weather, Commencement will be delayed until 7:30p.m. on Friday, May 11, 2012 and moved to the Lloyd Noble Center, 2900 South Jenkins Avenue, Norman, OK.

 

Graduation candidates and faculty should report at 6:30pm to the Lloyd Noble Center east and west mid-level entrances. No graduate processional will be held at Lloyd Noble Center. Graduation candidates and faculty should go directly to the designated seating locations. Graduation candidates and faculty should be seated by 7 p.m. Graduation candidates and faculty needing assistance on the basis of limited mobility or disability should contact the Graduation Office at (405) 325-0841 or via email at commencement@ou.edu for assistance prior to Commencement day.

 

Guests may enter the Lloyd Noble Center through any of the upper-level entrances and be seated in the seating sections designated for guests. Due to limited seated, guests are asked to fill in the seating clostest to the floor first. How will I know if Commencement has been re-located due to inclement weather?

Notices of a change of venue due to inclement weather will be posted on the Lloyd Noble Center marquee, at The Gaylord Family – Oklahoma Memorial Stadium and on http://www.ou.edu/commencement. You may also call (405) 325-0841 for confirmation of change of venue due to inclement weather.

 

Are tickets required?

Tickets are not required for Commencement. However, seating is limited at the Lloyd Noble Center. Graudation candidates, faculty and guests are encouraged to arrive early.

Simulcast availability

Once seating sections in the arena of the Lloyd Noble Center are full, guests will be directed to the Practice Court where overflow seating will be available and guests will watch the ceremony via simulcast.

Items and Searches

All bags will be searched upon entry into the Lloyd Noble Center.


Prohibited items must be returned to the owner's car or discarded. Any unlawful items are subject to confiscation, and the person in possession is subject to arrest.

• Alcoholic Beverages
• Backpacks
• Balloons
• Banners, Signs
• Beach Balls
• Coolers
• Containers
• Explosives
• Fanny Packs
• Folding Chairs
• Food/Beverages
• Ice Chests
• Laser Pointers
• All Noisemakers (i.e., air horns, plastic horns, whistles, etc.)
• Pets (with the exception of service animals used by disabled guests)
• Personal Heaters
• Weapons 


Admissible only for Commencement and Convocations only: Baby Seats, Baby Strollers, Umbrellas, Still Photography Cameras and Video Cameras.
