Graduation Weekend Assistance for International Students

For international students in need of a support letter for a U.S. Visitor’s Visa application in order for a friend or family member to attend Graduation ceremonies, please email the following information to the Graduation Office at Commencement@ou.edu :

Letters will be prepared inviting guests to attend The University of Oklahoma Graduation ceremonies where the student is to be honored.

Students requesting support letters are responsible for picking up the letters from the Graduation Office and mailing them to the friend or family member. OU cannot make the Visa application on behalf of the guest(s). This is the responsibility of your invitee.

International Flag Bearers

As a part of the University-wide Commencement ceremony, international flags representing some of the home countries of faculty, staff and students are presented by international graduation cadndidates as part of the processional and ceremony. International Flag Bearers must report to the Bizzel Memorial Library South entrance by 6:30 p.m. dressed in their academic regalia. International Flag Bearers will help lead the processional into the stadium bearing the flags of some of the countries represented at The University of Oklahoma. They will stand with their flags as the National Anthem is sung. Once the National Anthem has commenced, International Flag Bearers will exit the stage area and return to the graduation candidate seating area. Flags will be distributed on a first come, first served basis and specific flags may not be requested.
