Fall 2009 Convocation/Recognition Event Schedule
The University of Oklahoma
Convocation Schedule December 2009
What is the difference between
Commencement and College Convocations?
Commencement is the ceremony where the degrees are officially conferred. Filled with pageantry, it is the time for all 2009/2010
graduates to celebrate the culmination of their time at OU.
President Boren will address the graduates,
and the Commencement speaker will offer remarks.
Doctoral degree candidates will be recognized at this time.
At the College Convocations, graduates will be recognized.
Candidates’ names will be announced, they will have their picture taken,
and they will be presented a diploma cover by their college dean.
This is the time for candidates to celebrate with those in their college.
To have the complete graduation experience, graduates are expected to attend both Commencement and their Convocation!
