How to Give
The University of Oklahoma offers several different ways that a donor can contribute. Development staff can provide information and answer questions about which donation method meets the needs of an individual donor:
Cash Gifts (or Pledges): A gift of cash (or a pledge over time) is the most immediate way to make a gift. To make an outright gift of cash, give online or make a check payable to the University of Oklahoma Foundation Inc. If making a check, specify on the memo line the college or department to which you wish to direct your support.
Endowments: Endowment funds provide the foundation that has allowed OU to move into the top tier of American public universities. An endowment leaves the principal donation intact, with only the earnings from the investment spent for the purpose designated by the donor. Read more on establishing an endowment.
Matching Gifts: Alumni and friends can maximize the impact of their gifts to OU through matching programs that are most commonly available through donors’ employers. Learn more on matching gifts to OU.
Memorial Gifts: Donors can memorialize a friend or loved one with a gift to OU through the University of Oklahoma Foundation Inc. Learn more about memorial gifts.
Annual Gifts: Annual Giving’s impact on the quality of teaching and learning is significant. In fact, OU receives more than 60 percent of all alumni gifts through Annual Giving phone and mail programs. Annual donations help in countless ways. Learn more about annual giving.
Corporate Relations: OU partners with industry to help fuel engagement in areas of mutual interest, inform relevant curriculum, and spawn new business opportunities. Corporations rely on OU to produce educated, well-equipped professionals. Click here to read more about the Office of Corporate Relations.
Bequests, Charitable Trusts, and Estate Gifts: Planned gifts are as unique as each individual who makes one and may be tailored in a way that best serves the donor’s needs, objectives and wishes, while helping to strengthen OU’s future. Planned giving options include bequests, charitable remainder trusts, real estate, and life insurance. OU has established a special organization, the George Lynn Cross Heritage Society, to honor donors who have made planned gifts to the University.
