Assistant or Associate Level Tenure Track Faculty Position

The Haskell & Irene Lemon Construction Science (CNS) Division of the University of Oklahoma (OU) College of Architecture (CoA) is seeking applications for a tenure or tenure track assistant or associate professor to begin August 2012. Salary will be competitive depending on experience and credentials. Responsibilities include teaching designated CNS courses, research and service. Applicant should have demonstrated construction management expertise and be able to teach courses in more than one construction topic. The successful candidate will be encouraged to pursue funded research and contribute to undergraduate and graduate curriculum development. The CoA includes construction, architecture, interior design, landscape architecture and regional and city planning disciplines. The College is dedicated to the growth and autonomy of these disciplines, including interaction and cooperation.

 

We are looking for someone to join our ACCE accredited program in a team effort. Our program continually strives to develop and strengthen industry relationships in a stable metropolitan construction market. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to help shape the future direction of the Division. The position offers the following notable challenges and opportunities:

  • The opportunity to help develop and implement a new synchronous online Construction Management MS Degree Fall 2012.
  • The opportunity to help implement a new CoA Planning, Design and Construction Ph.D. Fall 2012.

 

Requirements:

  • A Master’s degree is mandatory. Either the Bachelor’s or Master’s degree must be from an accredited construction program.
  • A minimum of three years significant construction experience.
  • Construction expertise related to at least two courses in the BS and MS curricula.

 

Preferences:

  • Ability to teach MEP building systems, construction finance or preconstruction services.
  • Earned Ph.D., Doctorate or ABD in a relevant field (or expected completion within one year of hire).
  • Significant experience managing construction in the U.S.
  • Prior teaching experience in a construction program.
  • Potential to develop a research agenda in support of CNS Division goals.
  • Experience interacting with industry through training, research programs or consulting.
  • Certifications and/or licenses (for example CPC, PMP, PE, RA, LEED AP).
  • Online teaching experience.
