The University of Oklahoma College of Architecture

 

The College of Architecture at the University of Oklahoma is conducting a search for a Director of the Division of Architecture. The successful candidate will lead an academic unit with Bachelor, Masters and a PhD program. The College is housed in a completely renovated building with many new technological features. The College’s five academic units are now housed in one building for the first time, which has facilitated an increased emphasis on collaboration between disciplines and colleges. The new college Dean has brought new energy and vitality to the architecture program as well as five new architecture faculty were hired in the last three years. The faculty has re-envisioned the B. Arch curriculum to foster interdisciplinary collaboration between studio and core courses and among faculty.  This newly revised curriculum and the new college wide PhD program are scheduled to start in the fall of 2012 upon approval.

 

The successful candidate will be expected to have qualifications to be tenurable at the rank of associate or full professor.  A minimum of a Master's degree and professional licensure is required. A Ph.D. with education administration and practice experience is preferred.  Experience in academic departmental/unit leadership, teaching and research is desirable.

 

Candidates must be able to work harmoniously with others in a collegial, productive and efficient fashion. The Director must display these characteristics as a role model, and, he or she must reasonably reinforce these attributes with their faculty according to College and University policies.
