COA Scholarships for Architecture Students

Undergrad scholarship applications are due Feb. 1. Graduate scholarship applications are due March 15.

 

Jeffrey W. Burquest Memorial Scholarship
Amount/ Award
: One minimum $1,000 scholarship (awarded 1/2 each semester of upcoming academic year).
Statement of Purpose
: The goal of the Jeffrey W. Burquest Memorial Scholarship is to honor the memory of Jeffrey W. Burquest by providing scholarship for deserving Architecture students.
Type
: Creativity and Financial Need.
Eligibility
: Students majoring in the B.Arch program and currently classified as Upper Division.

: Undergraduate Students

Patricia L. Eidson Scholarship in Interior Design or Architecture
Amount
: Minimum of one/$3,000 awarded Fall of upcoming academic year.
Statement of Purpose
: Patricia L. Eidson died in October 1994, leaving a scholarship to be awarded annually to current undergraduate majors in Interior Design (BID) or Masters of Architecture with a focus on Interior Design.
Type
: Merit. Eligibility: Students majoring in Interior Design and currently enrolled in the second or third year of design studio or students in the M.Arch program.

COA Board of Visitors Scholarship

Amount/Award: At least one/$500 awarded Fall of upcoming academic year

Statement of Purpose: The goal of the Board of Visitors Scholarship is to facilitate student retention by providing economic assistance.

Type: Merit and Financial Need.

Eligibility: Currently enrolled major in the College of Architecture

Available to: Undergraduate and Graduate.

 

 

Joe and Jayne Buskuhl Scholarship

Amount/Award: At least six/$1,000 ($500 per semester of upcoming academic year) for tuition support to be awarded to one student within each of the six disciplines in the College of Architecture.

Statement of Purpose: The goal of the Joe and Jayne Buskuhl Scholarship is to provide economic assistance to academically promising undergraduate or graduate students who have limited financial means and are majoring in Architecture, Construction Science, Interior Design, Landscape Architecture, Regional and City Planning or Urban Design to facilitate recruitment and/or retention.

Type: Merit and financial need.

Eligibility: Currently declared, enrolled major in the College of Architecture

Available to: Incoming Freshman, Undergraduate and Graduate

 

 

Bockus-Payne Leadership and Ethics Scholarship

Amount/Award: At least two/$500 to be awarded to students within the Architecture Discipline in the College of Architecture.

Statement of Purpose: The goal of the Bockus Payne Scholarship is to award a student(s) that exhibits acts of Leadership in or outside of the learning environment, and demonstrates high moral and ethical character in his or her acts.

Type: Merit

Eligibility: Full-time students currently enrolled majoring in Architecture in the College of Architecture that have maintained a 3.25 GPA on a 4.0 scale

Available to: Undergraduate students entering 4th or 5th year of the Architecture program.  

 

 

Michael R. and Cara Shimkus Hall Architecture Scholarship

Amount/Award: One/$500 awarded Fall of upcoming academic year

Statement of Purpose: The goal of the Michael R. and Cara Shimkus Hall Architecture Scholarship is to provide scholarships for deserving Architecture students.

Type: Merit.

Eligibility: Second, third, or fourth year student in Architecture in good academic standing with OU and the College.

Available to: Undergraduate  

 

 

Michael and Mary Mahaffey Scholarship

Amount/Award: One/$1,000 awarded Fall of upcoming academic year

Statement of Purpose: The goal of the Michael and Mary Mahaffey Scholarship is to provide economic assistance to academically promising students of limited financial means who are pursuing the study of Architecture with a focus on single and multi-family housing, and to encourage interest in the professional career in Architecture in the State of Oklahoma.

Type: Merit and Financial Need.

Eligibility: Demonstrated financial need and good academic standing in third or fourth year of the undergraduate Architecture program or equivalent standing in the Master of Architecture program, and must be returning for at least one full year of study in Architecture at the University of Oklahoma.

Available to: Undergraduate and Graduate  

 

 

Trus Joist MacMillan Scholarship

Amount/Award: One/up to $500 (amount varies) awarded Fall of upcoming academic year.

Statement of Purpose: The goal of the Trus Joist MacMillan is to recognize expressed creativity in the application of structures/mechanics.

Type: Merit.

Eligibility: Students in the College of Architecture either currently enrolled or who have successfully completed coursework in Architectural Structures I or II, or Mechanics for Architects I or II, or other advanced structures/mechanics coursework.

Available to: Undergraduate and Graduate

All of the scholarships listed above have an application deadline of February 1 for undergraduates and March 15 for graduates.  By completing the scholarship application forms above, you are applying for all of the listed scholarships for which you are eligible. The following are additional scholarships that are also available to Architecture students.  They have varying application deadlines and must be submitted to the appropriate organizations. We have tried to provide links when available. However, you will be notified of new scholarship opportunities; if you know of any additional scholarships, please let the Scholarship Coordinator know so that we can post them in this section of our website.

 

SPR       Dallas CSI Foundation Scholarship
             Please read the Dallas CSI Foundation Scholarship rules and regulations
             linked below carefully. The scholarships may only be awarded to a student
             with a minimum of three years of College/University credit completed and
             at least one year remaining to complete their professional degree.
