Admission to the Program:

A minimum 2.50 OU and combined retention GPA is required for admission to the Bachelor of Interior Design program. Admission is limited to the top 20 students applying for the program as determined by GPA (2.50 combined retention or higher) and portfolio review. All first- and second-year courses listed in the courses and curriculum schedule must be completed before applying for admission.

Curriculum Details:

Curriculum changes are made periodically to meet changes in accreditation requirements, and to make the program as current as possible within reasonable parameters. You will graduate under the program through which you entered unless you confirm in writing that you wish to work with a more recently adopted change. Always check in with your advisor each semester, even if you are quite clear about your planning.

Foreign Language Requirement:

The College requires two years of a high school language, if you do not meet this requirement, you may elect any two semesters of foreign language, Native American language or sign language to meet this requirement.

Business Core:

The division requires one introductory course in social science (to meet university general education requirements) and two business courses which may be selected from advisor approved departments in the university including business and human relations. Only 3 hours need to be upper division. If you wish to take Marketing, you must follow the Econ-Acct sequence to take Marketing.

Independent Study:

For students who have solidly exhibited accomplishment of studio or lecture course work and who have a burning desire to study a particular topic in greater detail, an independent study option may be elected with appropriate faculty sponsorship. A contract must be developed and submitted at the beginning of the semester in which the independent study course will be taken.

Field Work:

The program strongly supports practicum/intern experience during summers and the school year. The majority of employers would like you to have computer and intern experience prior to being hired by them! You may receive credit or not, and the faculty would encourage a paid experience. Please see the faculty for planning and ideas.
