In Fall 2011, the Division of Landscape Architecture offered three undergraduate assistantships studying green infrastructure. OU students participated in the division’s activities and specific projects designing bioretention, ecological service oriented landscapes, and vegetative roof systems. They learned how these systems are conceptualized, visualized, and function to improve the world. The GIAs come from various undergraduate degree programs, to attend talks and hosting speakers of the Water in the Landscape Fall series, visiting local research sites, and assisting graduate students with design/research tasks. The 2011 Fall GIAs are Diane Cocchiara (Architecture), Lara McClellan (environmental Sustainability), and Sarah Witten (Interdisciplinary Perspectives of the Environment).
