About the Counseling Psychology Clinic

Everyone Needs Help Sometimes

Managing the pressures of our daily lives can sometimes be challenging. The OU Counseling Psychology Clinic can help. Common problems for those seeking our services include depression, anxiety, stress, relationship issues, identity concerns, coping with trauma, career or job decisions or problems, attention and/or learning problems, adjustment to medical illness, and many other personal adjustment and mental health concerns.

Counseling and psychological assessment services are available for children, adolescents, adults, couples and families. If you live in Oklahoma, you are eligible for services.

Counseling involves commitment and hard work. The client must summon the courage to confront problem areas, help the counselor understand her or his life situation by openly discussing concerns, and commit to keeping scheduled appointments. In turn, the counselor listens, understands, and helps the client to work toward change.

Appreciation of Diversity

The counselors, supervisors, and staff of the OU Counseling Psychology Clinic are committed to the understanding and appreciation of human diversity. We offer an environment and counselor-client relationships in which our clients feel supported and can explore and discuss their experiences, beliefs, values and behaviors without judgment or fear. We believe that diversity is part of the richness of life and includes many differences, including age, gender expression and identity, race and ethnicity, religion, sexual orientation, physical differences, socio-economic status, country of origin, language, and more.
