Master's Program
M.Ed. programs are designed to provide beginning graduate students exposure to scholarship in educational leadership and administration, and to connect scholarship with practice consistent with the EACS Conceptual Framework. Candidates for the M.Ed. degree may also gain program endorsement for administrative certification in Oklahoma. Students may elect either a thesis or a non-thesis program.

MASTER'S DEGREE PROGRAM GENERAL REQUIREMENTS (all M.Ed. students):
- B.S. in Education or equivalent for admission. Students must have 12 hours of prerequisite courses in Education. Students without the necessary prerequisites are expected to fulfill those requirements. Additional courses may be required depending upon the area of certification and the area of study.
- Completion of at least 36 credit hours for the non-thesis program, 30 hours for the thesis program.
- 75% of course credits taught by O.U. Graduate Faculty.
- 25% of course credits may be transfer credit.
(Exception: If courses taken via Oklahoma Higher Education Televised Instructional System, 50% may be transferred from OSU and/or University of Tulsa). - No graduate credit may be earned through correspondence courses, but such work may be taken to satisfy prerequisites.
- Satisfactory completion of a comprehensive examination for students in a non-thesis program (the Comprehensive Portfolio) or a thesis for students in the thesis program.
- A 3.0 (B) or better GPA both in graduate coursework and in all coursework attempted.
- At least 50% of all coursework must be letter-graded.
- All work completed within five calendar years
- Satisfy the program requirements for major core, foundation core, and other required courses and electives.

- Complete an interview with program area faculty (ELPS departmental staff will coordinate scheduling of the interviews after the submission after the application materials have been submitted).
Applicants for the program leading to the degree of Master of Education (M.Ed.) must present the degree of Bachelor of Science in Education as conferred by the University of Oklahoma or the equivalent, including twelve hours of acceptable undergraduate work in education. The student may elect a thesis or a non-thesis program. A student will normally complete work within five calendar years after the student's first graduate enrollment at the University of Oklahoma.
