In fiscal year 2009, OU recycled 932.55 tons. This marks a 20% increase of recycled goods from the previous year's total in fiscal year 2008.
While recycling is vital, reduction in waste is also an integral component for sustainability. In fiscal year 2009, OU saw a 13% reduction in waste.
Accepted Materials:
- Aluminum Cans
- Plastic #1 through #7
- White Paper
- Mixed Paper
- Newspaper
- Batteries (NEW - special containers available upon request)
We also accept cardboard, toner cartridges, pallets and phonebooks, but these items require special coordination. Old files can also be shredded and recycled upon request. Call Facilities Management's Refuse and Recycling at 405.325.8068 to coordinate.
To order office recycling containers, please e-mail recycling@ou.edu. We'll just need the department name, building, phone number, and desired container size. As resources permit, these are available at no additional cost to your department.
