Exit Counseling

Federal regulations require federal student loan borrowers who graduate, discontinue enrollment, or enroll less than half time to complete exit counseling. Exit counseling provides information about interest rates, grace period, repayment information, what to do if having trouble repaying your loan, and your rights and responsibilities, etc. Exit counseling is in a quiz format; information is presented then questions must be answered. At the end of the session be sure to print your confirmation page for your records. You may also get an email from the U.S. Department of Education that your exit counseling has been successfully completed and sent to OU.

The Exit Counseling link can be found below.

How do I know if I have to complete Exit Counseling?

OU Financial Aid Services sends an email request for Missing Information to the student's OU email if exit counseling is required. Log into oZONE and go to the Money tab to the Financial Aid Missing Information link. If exit counseling is required, a link is provided. Note the links are also listed below.

What happens after I complete Exit Counseling?

Approximately 2-3 working days after completing exit counseling, OU Financial Aid Services will update your financial aid Missing Information link in oZONE with the date received. This is required to complete your loan process. Be sure to log into oZONE and check your completed Exit Counseling has been received. Contact FAS if your Exit Counseling is not showing as received.
