The museum’s creative writing program involves 6th grade students at the four middle schools in Norman (Alcott, Irving, Longfellow, and Whittier). Teachers identify students with an interest in writing and art to participate in the program. Each group makes two trips to work with the award-winning writer Nathan Brown doing creative journaling in response to art in the museum. More than 180 middle school students and their teachers benefited from this program during the 2009/10 school year.
The creative writing program is made possible through a generous gift from the Harris Foundation. Transportation is provided by the Norman Public Schools.
